French police have again been overwhelmed by hundreds of migrants attempting to storm the Channel Tunnel terminal near Calais in a desperate attempt to smuggle themselves aboard trucks to reach Britain.
Yesterday, one person died when they tried to climb under a truck as migrants changed tactics from quietly slipping through the fences to launching mass attempts to storm the terminal.
British Prime Minister David Cameron described the situation a “swarm of people”, and said he had confidence in the French to deal with it. Other Conservatives, however, have demanded the army be sent in, saying French authorities had “lost control”.
