A 10-foot long Hammerhead Shark reportedly bit a kayaker on the foot this past weekend off the coast of Malibu, when he and his friend were fishing for yellowtail.
Dylan Marks, 29, had his feet dangling off the side of the kayak when he was bitten. Marks’ friend Kyle Hudgins told local ABC News affiliate in Los Angeles ABC 7 that the bite was so deep his bone was visible.
Marks was reportedly airlifted to Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, where his bleeding was brought under control. He had plans to head back out into the water on Sunday, he told KABC.

Saturday’s incident is reportedly the second time someone has been bitten by a hammerhead shark in two months. A man off the coast of San Diego has his hand bitten last month while he was diving 100 miles off the coast.
Just last week, in San Diego, beachgoers were given stern warnings not to enter the waters after hammerhead sharks reportedly stalked a group of kayakers. Two separate incidents took place over the course of two days.
Also last week, a great white shark took a significant bite out of a woman’s surfboard while she was swimming in the waters at Morro Strand State Beach. The shark reportedly left a 14-inch bite mark.
