Thursday at the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing for President Barack Obama’s attorney general nominee Loretta Lynch, investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson told the story of Tracy Schmaler, a top aide to Attorney General Eric Holder, blocking her from a “Fast and Furious” briefing with a threat of revoking her security clearance, to control the reporters allowed to cover the story.
Arttkisson said, “I can’t tell you how improper that is in my view. How improper it is that government officials who control public assets would misuse their authority to, in essence, hand pick the reporters who get to cover the story, I think, in essence, the way they would rather it be covered, and keep out more knowledgeable reporters.”
