Shots Fired Outside Syracuse Anti-Gun Violence Concert

Shots were reportedly fired outside a Syracuse anti-gun violence concert around 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

One person was shot and wounded and an SUV was struck by gunfire at the Syracuse event.

According to Syracuse.com, “restaurant and bar employees” near the venue said they “ducked for cover” as the shots rang out. Witnesses counted “at least seven gunshots.”

The wounded individual — a 29-year-old male — is expected to recover.

The concert was called “Rep Our City: For Gun Violence Awareness.”  It “featured local DJs and several community anti-violence activists, including Timothy ‘Noble’ Jennings-Bey of the Trauma Response Team, Ed Mitchell of Project A.N.G.E.L. and Lepa Jones of Mothers Against Gun Violence.”

The concert was planned to coincide with “National Gun Violence Awareness Day.”
