A 64-year-old homeowner hooked to a dialysis machine managed to pull a gun and prevent an alleged intruder from entering his home.

The March 8 incident occurred during the morning hours at Cumberland Apartments in Orlando, Florida.

According to Fox 35, Deputies said the suspect allegedly “cut open a screen door and entered the [would-be] victim’s place through a patio.” At that the point the resident said he picked up his dialysis machine and his gun, walked over to the window, and tapped on the glass with gun. The resident said, “Just wanted to let him know, I’ve got a gun.”

The 64-year-old resident said: “I’m glad he took that advice and jumped back over the rail” and fled the scene.

Investigators caught the suspect and identified him as 24-year-old Jonathan Herd. He is facing burglary charges.
