New York City Syrian community leader Aarafat “Ralph” Succar told the New York Post that the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) already exists in America.
“I believe the terrorists from Syria have been coming into the United States, not only in the past few years, but way before that,” he said. “I think they’re already at work.”
Succar moved to America when he was 10-years-old. He resides in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, which houses the most Syrians in the city, where he also serves as a member of the community council.
Unfortunately, a person can easily receive official documents in Syria with false information due to corrupted officials.
“You can go to the Syrian government today and say to them, ‘I need a piece of paper that says I’m Tony Caterpillar.’ And they give it to you,” he continued. “These are not forged documents. These are written out by a government employee who needs money, whose family has no food.”
He also lashed out at suggestions the West can vet the Syrian refugees to weed out ISIS members and supporters.
“Third World countries, particularly places like Syria, do not have the network of information the United States has,” he commented. “In Syria, there’s no such thing. So when they tell you that [the refugees] are vetted, are you out of your mind?”
Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the city will not be intimidated by ISIS.
“We understand it is the goal of terrorists to intimidate and disrupt our democratic society,” he said. “We will not submit. It’s crucial that people go about their normal business recognizing the NYPD is providing extraordinary protection for the people of this city.”
On Thursday, Breitbart Texas exclusively revealed that authorities caught eight Syrians attempting to enter Texas from Mexico. Honduras authorities also arrested five Syrians with stolen Greek passports.
