Alton Nolen, a.k.a. Jah’KeemYisreal, who has been charged with the gruesome attack and beheading of a co-worker at the Vaughan Food company in Oklahoma, will have to face trial.
A judge has found the man competent to stand trial. The mainstream press, the FBI, and others treated the murder at the plant as “workplace violence,” as reported by Breitbart News.
Nolen faces trial after allegedly using a work knife to behead a female employee, 54-year-old Colleen Hufford, after first stabbing her in the back in late September of 2014.
Breitbart Texas reported soon after the murder that Nolen was apparently a radicalized Muslim. Nolen attended the same mosque as Zacarias Moussaoui, a man convicted in federal court of conspiring to kill U.S. citizens as part of the September 11 attacks.
Nolen, was allegedly fired after an argument about stoning, drove back to the plant on the same day. As reported by Breitbart News, a classmate of Nolen’s, who didn’t wish to be identified, told Nolen’s hometown newspaper that a close family member said that Nolen was fired after he got into an argument at work when he told coworkers that women should be stoned for an offense.
Moreover, a Moore Police Department spokesman, Sergeant Jeremy Lewis said during a press conference after the murder, “After conducting interviews with co-workers of Nolen’s, information was obtained that he recently started to convert some of his co-workers to the Muslim religion.”
A worker at the plant who was a witness to the murder told news outlets that Nolen was shouting Islamic phrases during the murderous rampage.
An off-duty officer who was also chief operating officer at the processing center, Mark Vaughn, shot Nolen and presumably stopped him from committing more violence, as reported by Breitbart News.
The murder and assault occurred right after the release of ISIS beheading videos.
Nolen also posted images on his Facebook page in the spring of that year which seemed to justify beheading, as reported by Breitbart News. The image posted was of a partially decapitated man with someone standing over him pulling his head back to show the deep fatal wound.
The Facebook post bears the quote, “Thus do we find the clear precedent that explains the peculiar penchant of Islamic terrorists to behead their victims: it is merely another precedent bestowed by their Prophet.” Just below the photo is a citation from the Quran, “I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off of them.”
The image was taken from a 2008 Power Point presentation entitled “The Perfect Man,” intended to present a stark contrast between Mohammed and Jesus. The slide was just one of several which featured severed heads, as reported by Breitbart News.
On the same day he made this post on his Facebook page under the name of Jah’Keem Yisrael, he also posted a black and white sign that said, “Islam will Dominate the World: Freedom can go to hell.”
Defense lawyers had argued that Nolen was not competent because of mental retardation. The Norman Transcript reported that the judge issued a written order that Nolen did not meet the legal definition of mental retardation as defined in the statutes.
“The evidence indicated that he was able to graduate from high school, play interscholastic sports, gain admission to and attend college, socialize and communicate effectively, work, make efforts to seek higher employment, undertake religious studies, plan and execute goals and live independently,” the judge’s order states.
The judge also found that Nolen has the ability to rationally assist with his legal defense.
District Attorney Greg Mashburn reportedly said that the judge’s order was well-written and decided.
The Transcript has also reported that hearings will be held in the case in the near future.
After the beheading murder, the White House sent a top Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official to the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City to “present a special thank you to [Nolen’s] Muslim congregation,” as reported by Breitbart News.
