Univision and Telemundo – who have sparred with GOP frontrunner Donald Trump – have actually spent more time covering Trump than the combined time spent by the traditional TV trio — NBC, ABC, and CBS, according to a Media Research Center study.
Univision and Telemundo covered Trump for 308 minutes since his presidential announcement in June. That’s 37 minutes more than ABC, CBS and NBC, all of which have covered the GOP frontrunner with a combined coverage of 271 minutes.
“In other words, the two top Spanish-language news shows, Noticiero Univisión and Noticiero Telemundo, churned out more Trump news than their counterparts on the top three English-language networks, a remarkable level of coverage,” the study revealed.
The coverage has been “anything but favorable” for Trump, according to MRC.
Since he joined the race, Trump has had poor relations with the Spanish-language channels. In fact, Trump sued Univision after the Spanish network decided to break its contract with Trump and not broadcast the Miss USA pageant.
Trump also has argued with a Telemundo anchor during his visit to the southern border, and eventually dismissed the reporter with a flick of the wrist. “No, no, you’re finished,” Trump said to the Telemundo anchor, which prompted cheers from Trump’s supporters.
