Politico Uncovers Hillary Clinton’s Staggering Wealth

According to Politico, Hillary Clinton makes more money in a 20-minute speech than a fast food worker makes all year.

“Fear of debt drove Clinton’s dash for cash: They went from ‘dead broke’ to millionaires in months,” wrote Politico reporters Annie Karni and Isabelle Taft, adding:

What Hillary Clinton and her husband, Bill, pay in local property taxes on two luxury homes ($104,303) is twice the income of an average family.

She earns more for a 20-minute speech to an industry trade group than a dozen fast-food workers make in a year.

Her book royalties last year brought in $5 million, part of the couple’s $30.5 million in income.

Last summer, Hillary Clinton decried the “cancer of inequality” while promoting her book Hard Choices–for which she snagged a $14 million advance.

“The Clintons are far from the ‘dead broke’ couple, as she has described, who left the White House saddled with debt after Bill Clinton’s presidency,” Karni and Taft wrote. “In fact, they now rank comfortably among the top one-tenth of the top 1 percent of earners.”

Since the beginning of the summer, Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign has been saddled by scandal. The New York Times bestseller Clinton Cash uncovered the web of millions in Clinton Foundation donations and speaking fees to Bill Clinton that came from corporations and governments that had business before Clinton’s State Department. Then there is the criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton’s unprecedented use of a private email server while she served as secretary of state.

However, Hillary Clinton’s incessant scandals are but one reason why “she still struggles to sell herself as the candidate of everyday Americans,” according to Politico. “During the last two weeks of August, she took a break from a family vacation to do a quick campaign swing to rural America, then returned to the rented Hampton vacation property with a private beach and a 50-foot pool” at a rental cost of “$100,000.”
