Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke appeared on Fox News discussing a push by Al Sharpton for new federal police laws following the recent South Carolina killing of Walter Scott, a black man, by a white police officer.
Clarke began by saying he was unsure why Al Sharpton isn’t in prison for tax evasion.
The sheriff hinted Sharpton is trying to politicize the issue with his push for federal police legislation.
“I bet he wouldn’t make this recommendation if a Republican president was in the White House and who had appointed a more conservative United States Attorney General, said Clarke.”
“We have fifty different states in this country and they are all unique, so that is why this is a states rights issue,” he explained.
Clarke added the guiding principle for all fifty states is the United States Constitution.
