AZ Dem Gubernatorial Candidate Darkens Skin for Commercials to Appear Hispanic

Phoenix businessowner Fred DuVal is not Hispanic. But he apparently has been coloring his skin darker in his commercials for his gubernatorial candidacy in order to appear Hispanic. DuVal says the whole situation is just a big joke, since his Republican opposition calls him “The World’s Most Uninteresting Man;” he says he was trying to make himself look like the actor from the Dos Equis commercials.

According to the Arizona Daily Independent, “Duval digitally morphed himself to resemble the person pictured here, put the doctored image out on Twitter and hand-delivered a printed copy to the AZGOP. Painful attempts at humor, especially with racial overtones, usually backfire on candidates.”
