Border Militia Member to Undergo Court Ordered Psychological Evaluation

MCALLEN, Texas — A member of a border militia group that set up camp in Brownsville will undergo a psychological evaluation under court orders before his federal case can move forward.

On Monday afternoon, John “Jesus” Foerster went before U.S. Magistrate Ronald Morgan who ordered the evaluation and ordered he be held without bond pending another hearing set for next week. The medical evaluation was initially requested by Foerster’s attorney Ed Stapleton following a verbal outburst in the courtroom

Foerster is one of “Rusty’s Rangers” an armed militia group that had set up in a private farm in Brownsville called Camp Lone Star in an effort to scare off drug and human smugglers.

According to court records obtained by Breitbart Texas, on August 29 a U.S. Border Patrol agent pursuing a group of illegal aliens came across Foerster who pointed an Ak-47 at the agent. In response, the agent fired three shots at Foerster and ordered him to put his weapon down. 

During an investigation into the shooting, federal authorities learned that Foerster and group leader Kevin “KC” Massey both were armed on that day and both had prior felony convictions making it illegal for them to carry firearms. 

When agents arrested Massey last week at a motel in Brownsville they seized various weapons and an ammunition can filled with ammonium nitrate and fuel, court records obtained by Breitbart Texas show.
