On Saturday at the Texas GOP Convention in Fort Worth, Senator Ted Cruz won the 2016 presidential straw poll with 43 percent of the vote.
“Senator Cruz is deeply grateful for the support of Texas grassroots activists who are leading the way in the effort to make D.C. listen,” a spokeswoman from Cruz’s office told Breitbart Texas. “He is committed to making Texans’ voices heard and keeping up the fight in Washington to restore jobs, growth, and opportunity for all Americans.”
Dr. Ben Carson came in a distant second, and was closely trailed by Senator Rand Paul and Governor Rick Perry.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz: 43.3 percent
Dr. Ben Carson: 12.2 percent
Kentucky Senator Rand Paul: 12.1 percent
Texas Governor Rick Perry: 11.7 percent
Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush: 3.3 percent
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker: 2.9 percent
Florida Senator Marco Rubio: 2.6 percent
Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan: 2 percent
Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum: 1.9 percent
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal: 1.7 percent
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie: 1.3 percent
Indiana Governor Mike Pence: 0.6 percent
Ohio Governor John Kasich: 0.5 percent
Iowa Congressman Steve King: 0.2 percent
Other: 2.7 percent
Undecided: 1.1 percent
