Obama Vows 'Counterterrorism Coalition' Will 'Destroy ISIS' Without War

Wednesday night on the eve of the 13th anniversary of September 11, 2001 terror attacks, President Barack Obama said U.S. airstrikes in Iraq and potentially Syria with a “broad coalition” on the ground which he repeatedly insisted would not include American combat forces will be enough to “destroy” threat posed by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Obama said the United States will lead “a broad coalition”  to destroy, ISIL through a comprehensive and sustained counter-terrorism strategy.”

“It will not involve American combat troops fighting on foreign soil,”  but the president plans is to take out ISIS by air power and “support for partner forces on the ground.”
