Dallas Cowboys great Emmitt Smith donated $10,000 to support Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis.
Smith, who is the CEO of EJSmith Enterprises, donated the $10,000 to the Texas Victory Committee on January 8, according to FEC filings. The Texas Victory Committee is “a joint effort from Wendy Davis for Governor and Battleground Texas,” which is a group of liberals attempting to “turn Texas blue.”
As Breitbart News reported, when Davis failed to meet expectations during the last fundraising cycle, her campaign added $3.5 million from the Texas Victory Committee to Davis’s coffers so she could clear the $10 million hurdle her campaign had set to the press. Davis raised about $8.7 million but proclaimed her campaign had raised more than $12 million.
She significantly trails Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott in fundraising, though. Abbott reportedly has roughly $27 million cash on hand.
