Majority Believe Football Has Replaced Baseball as National Sport

A majority of Americans believe football is the country’s national sport. 

According to a Public Religion Research Institute survey, 55% of those surveyed think “football has replaced baseball as America’s national sport” while 36% disagree. 

Public Religion Research Institute designed and conducted the survey between January 16, 2013 and January 20 of1,033 adults 18 years of age or older (415 of whom were interviewed on a cell phone). The survey’s margin of error is +/- 3.5 percentage points.
