Harbaughs Geaux to Super Bowl: San Francisco to Face Baltimore in New Orleans

Brothers Jim Harbaugh, head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, and John Harbaugh, head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, will face each other in the Super Bowl in New Orleans in two weeks.

Jim’s 49ers beat the Atlanta Falcons 28-24 in the NFC title game on Sunday. And John’s Ravens defeated the New England Patriots 28-13 in the AFC championship game on Sunday. John is Jim’s older brother.

The game between the 49ers and the Ravens should be a doozy, pitting San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick and his dynamic read-option offense against Baltimore linebacker Ray Lewis and the vaunted Ravens defense in what will be Lewis’s last game in the NFL. San Francisco stout defense will battle a Ravens offense that has been dangerous in the playoffs.

Jack Harbaugh, Jim and John’s father, was a longtime coach in college–serving stints as an assistant coach for schools such as Michigan and Stanford.

Last year, the brothers made it to their respective conference championship games. But Jim’s 49ers lost to the New York Giants and John’s Ravens lost to the Patriots.

This will be the first time in the history of the NFL where two brothers coach against each other in the Super Bowl.
