San Diego Mexican Consulate Will Help with Obama’s Amnesty

On Monday, the Mexican Consulate in San Diego made clear its intent to help illegal immigrants targeted by Barack Obama’s recently announced reforms on immigration. Remedios Gomez Arnau, the Mexican Consul General in San Diego, told local public radio station KPBS, “We will be organizing workshops once we have the information of exactly what is required. We will be printing booklets. We will, of course, be working through our network of social organizations to provide these workshops in the different parts of San Diego County.” Arnau previously served as Consul General of Mexico in Atlanta from 2001 until January 2008.

Illegal immigrants unsure of how to proceed may be victimized, said San Diego City Councilmember David Alvarez, according to KPBS. He asserted, “I’ve already started to see that there are folks who are announcing, ‘We can help you apply. We can help you fill out the application. Pay us a fee and we’ll take you through the paperwork.’ I’m really concerned about that–that people are being duped into this idea that the process exists, that there is an application.”

According to the Public Policy Institute of California, 180,000 immigrants lack the proper paperwork in San Diego County.

Obama’s new executive orders permit illegal immigrants with no criminal record and children born in the United States to stay in the U.S. without being deported.

As Breitbart reported in August, between October 1, 2013 through July 31, 2014, 227,279 OTM (other than Mexicans) illegal aliens crossed into the United States over the southwest border. Illegal immigrants who cross the Mexican border who do not hail from Mexico cannot be returned to Mexico, and must be deported or must consent to leave voluntarily.
