After the federal government canceled its plans to send 300 illegal immigrants from Central America to California on Sunday evening, Border Patrol agents said that as soon as the media’s glare fades, California will receive illegal immigrants from Texas who flooded across the border.
Gabe Pacheco, a “spokesman for the National Border Patrol Council Local 1613, which represents agents in San Diego,” told the Associated Press that “he believed the California flights would have occurred if they hadn’t been announced.”
“It’s just a matter of time,” he said. “They’ll do it when no one’s paying attention.”
The federal government has been looking for places from California to New York to house the illegal immigrants who are overwhelming the system. But local residents, like those in rural Lawrenceville, Virginia, are revolting against the idea of sending illegal immigrants, some of whom may be gang members and may have contagious diseases, to their neighborhoods. After outrage from local residents, the federal government apologized to Lawrenceville residents for not informing them of their plans and put the planned transfer program on hold.
