On September 23 the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported that US led airstrikes killed “at least 400 militants” on the night of the 22nd.
The casualty count comes from numbers compiled by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
According to KUNA, the SOHR reported that “another 300 militants of [ISIS], al Nursa Front, and other militant groups were also wounded in the attacks.”
SOHR says the fatalities came from airstrikes in northern Syria and other countries.
On September 23 Breitbart News reported that the Obama administration alerted Syria before carrying out strikes against training grounds, command facilities, and various vehicles in the country. According to the Associated Press, “Syria’s Foreign Ministry said Washington told Damascus’ UN envoy of the impending [strikes]” and Secretary of State John Kerry “passed a message through Iraq’s foreign minister.”
CNN reports the airstrikes were carried out in three waves, the first of which “targeted the Khorasan Group.” The second wave targeted ISIS headquarters and command structures, while the third hit ISIS training grounds.
Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates joined the US in the airstrikes against ISIS and Khorasan positions.
