Former Libyan warlord and General “Butt Naked” Joshua Milton Blahyi converted to Christianity and is now running an orphanage for the children he used to recruit to kill for him in war.
According to Spiegel, Blahyi was called “Butt Naked” because of his habit of going into to battle wearing nothing but tennis shoes and carrying a machete. He believed fighting this way “made him invulnerable.”
But at some point after Libya’s civil war, Blahyi became a Christian and is now a pastor running an orphanage for children whom he once recruited to fight for him against other armies.
Blahyi has tracked down families of persons he tortured; upon finding them, he kneels before them and begs their forgiveness.
He has also adopted three children, adding them to the three biological children he already had. The children describe him as “generous and funny.”
