On the heels of putting words in Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren’s mouth for at least a second time, Democrat National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz says leaving Jerusalem out of the DNC platform was simply a “technical omission.”
During an appearance on CNN, Wasserman Schultz was asked why the 2008 DNC platform managed to affirm Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, yet the 2012 platform originally made no mention of it.
Her reply to was stress that the DNC 2012 platform was “100% strongly pro-Israel” when adopted on Tuesday (even without the mention of Jerusalem in it). She then stressed how proud she is to be “the first Jewish woman to represent Florida in Congress” and claimed that the DNC platform, as adopted on Tuesday, “has stronger language that the Republican platform.”
Then finally, after beating around the bush and touting her own Jewish credentials, Wasserman Schultz said it was a “technical omission.”
Wasserman Schultz didn’t bother explaining why it took three votes amid boos and hisses for convention delegates to change the platform and add recognition of Jerusalem back into the wording.
It appears she simply can’t handle the truth.
