White House Press Corps Deny Carney Given Questions In Advance

Thursday the Weekly Standard reported that a CBS reporter from Arizona revealed that President Obama’s press secretary, Jay Carney, receives questions from the White House Press Corps in advance of his daily briefings. She quoted Carney as her source: “And then he also mentioned that a lot of times, unless it’s something breaking, the questions that the reporters actually ask — the correspondents — they are provided to him in advance.”

White House correspondents Ed Henry of Fox News and Julie Pace of the Associated press were quick to deny the claim. ABC’s Jonathan Karl denied the he personally submits questions beforehand. CNN’s Jake Tapper, former White House correspondent for ABC News also denied the charge:

–Time’s Zeke Miller, a reporter not a White House correspondent, called the story “ridiculous.”
