Breitbart News announced today the additions of journalists Jeff Poor and Frances Martel to the rapidly expanding news organization.
Poor will be the editor of Breitbart TV, and Martel’s reporting will focus on political coverage in addition to international issues for a site experiencing exponential growth in traffic. November was Breitbart News’s biggest month ever across all metrics.
Poor previously worked at the Media Research Center as a business news analyst and The Daily Caller, while Martel has been at Mediaite, Telemundo, and WOR Radio.
“We welcome Jeff and Frances to the fold. As Breitbart News Network continues to grow and expand, they are the type of strategic hires we are looking to make in order to expand and broaden our news coverage,” Breitbart News CEO and President Larry Solov said. “Both have excellent reputations and we expect continued great things from them in the years to come.”
Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow emphasized Poor’s and Martel’s news judgment and understanding of the news cycle.
“I am thrilled about both of these additions to our team. Jeff Poor is an experienced, aggressive aggregator who understands the pulse of the media, and Frances Martel is a top-notch writer with impeccable news judgement,” Marlow said.
Poor, a graduate of Auburn University, said he was “excited for what lies ahead for the Breitbart organization.”
“The opportunity to be a part of an organization with such a strong online presence was too good to pass up,” Poor said. “I look forward to taking Breitbart TV to the next level.”
Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon said Poor “is the type of no-nonsense reporter who is perfect for the Breitbart News platform.”
“We are very excited about his vision for Breitbart TV and look forward to his ideas being implemented,” he said.
Martel is a lawyer and political writer who will be based in the New York City area. A graduate of Harvard University, most of her academic background lies in political science, particularly urban political machines in the greater New York area and New Jersey. In 2009, Martel managed the campaign of Mayor Felix Roque in West New York, and she has profiled a number of prominent media figures including Piers Morgan, Ann Coulter, Eric Bolling, and Sanjay Gupta, and considers herself an in-house expert on New German Cinema, Rod Blagojevich, and Jedward.
“I am extremely excited to join the Breitbart News team–the conservative website showcasing the greatest diversity of opinions on the American right running today,” Martel said. “I have always admired Andrew Breitbart’s philosophy of more voices, not less, and greatly appreciate the opportunity to expand that variety by adding my voice to the chorus he and his successors put together that see politics as the responsibility of all who are governed, not just those who govern.”
Bannon said Martel is “tough and relentless–qualities we prize at Breitbart News.”
