Daniel Ellsberg, the man who helped bring down the Nixon presidency with the leak of the Pentagon Papers, called NSA leaker Edward Snowden “a hero.”
Blogger Trevor Timm announced on Twitter that he was with Ellsberg when the Snowden story broke Sunday afternoon.
The Huffington Post drew comparisons of Snowden to Ellsberg:
Like Snowden, Ellsberg was an insider, a man who worked for the RAND Corporation and the Pentagon before deciding that he could no longer tolerate what he saw as the lies of the American government in Vietnam, and used the media to get his message out.
