DNC Chair Wasserman Schultz Demolished by… CNN's Wolf Blitzer?

The most unkind cut of all is when your paper thin understanding of the facts is shredded by someone you think is on your side. This is what happened to Democrat National Committee Chairperson Debbie Wasserman Schultz when she kept trying to tell CNN’s Wolf Blitzer that Ryan’s Medicare reform plan took Medicare away from everyone even though, as Blitzer repeatedly pointed out, the truth is that Ryan’s reforms only altered the entitlement for those 55 and younger.

It was painful to watch Schultz being eviscerated by her own CNN mouthpiece.

Of course Blitzer was correct. When Paul Ryan introduced his budget reform plan, the Roadmap For America’s Future, he did suggest that reforms for Medicare would kick in for those 55 and under. But the fact is, and it is a fact, that Blitzer kept trying to pound into Wasserman Schultz’ head, that Every American over 55 would not see any changes at all in the entitlements that they always thought they’d get.

Americans understand that our entitlement regimen is far too generous, far too expensive, and on the road to completely bankrupting the nation. Americans 55 or younger fully understand that changes have to come and they have to start somewhere.

At the same time Americans also have compassion for those older Americans who spent their entire adult lives planning for a future that included receiving these benefits. Compassionate Americans realize that it wouldn’t be fair to just strand so many elderly people in a future where they will be left wanting. America understands that it just isn’t fair to yank the rug out from under them. Americans “get” why Paul Ryan and the Republicans wrote their reform plan the way they did.

It was sweet, though, to see Wasserman Schultz yammer, stammer, um and ahh, as Blitzer blitzed her like a sledgehammer with the facts.

It just shows how unprepared this woman is for prime time and how unserious her Party is to address the deepening fiscal crisis their policies have created.
