Best Actress Winners' Oscar Dresses – From 1929 to 2013

Many viewers tune into the Super Bowl each year to watch the commercials, not what happens on the field.

The same could be said for Oscar night TV audiences. Yes, some people can’t wait to learn who was chosen Best Supporting Actor or Best Director. Others are keen on seeing what the actresses honored that year wore to the big event.

In that spirit, the British site MediaRun Digital assembled a snapshot of every dress worn by a Best Actress winner in one extensive illustration.

The list begins in 1929 with Janet Gaynor’s dress–she won for Off the Rack–and ends with last year’s Oscar-winning dress, worn by Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook).
