Is Carson Daly about to get Fallon’d by Alec Baldwin?
The New York Times reports NBC is in preliminary discussions with the 30 Rock actor to host his own late night program. The move would be the latest late night shakeup at NBC in the wake of news that Jimmy Fallon will take over for Jay Leno in 2014 as host of The Tonight Show. A possible Baldwin-led show could mean the end of Daly’s 12-year tenure in the network’s 1:35 a.m. slot.
The Emmy-winning actor is in the mix for a spot in NBC‘s late-night lineup, one executive involved in the network’s program planning said. The executive asked not to be identified because the talks were still in initial stages.
The move would hardly fit in with the Peacock Network’s quest for youth, since the multi-talented Baldwin is in his mid-50s. His penchant for public meltdowns, however, could offer a steady stream of publicity.
