Marijuana Advocate Willie Nelson to Perform at RNC

Conservatives don’t hate liberal entertainers by default. They simply get grumpy when said folk insult the Right, mock their deeply-held beliefs or describe them in hateful terms.

So there probably won’t be a lot of teeth gnashing when Willie Nelson starts his set next month at the Republican National Committee in Tampa.

Yes, the pot-smoking, tax troubled troubadour will be performing at the year’s biggest Republican event. The singer’s personal platform leans decidedly to the left, from his embrace of eco-fuels to his push to legalize marijuana.

Funds for Nelson’s concert will go toward several veterans’ groups, another reason Romney supporters will likely look past Nelson’s politics and clap along to the beat.
