Biden: 'Will & Grace' 'Did More to Educate the Public than Anything' on Same Sex Marriage

It’s a shame President Barack Obama doesn’t watch more “Will & Grace” reruns.

Vice President Joe Biden told NBC’s “Meet the Press” today that the NBC sitcom, which ran from 1998-2006, “did more to educate the public than anything” on the subject of gay marriage.

The show featured a woman (Debra Messing) living in mostly harmony with a gay man (Eric McCormack), although part of the series was dedicated to Messing’s character’s romance with a doctor (Harry Connick, Jr.). The show also featured a scene-stealing secondary gay character played by Sean Hayes, now in theaters playing Larry in “The Three Stooges.”

Biden supports gay marriage, but Obama does not.

But asked if the Obama administration would officially support same-sex unions in a second term, Mr. Biden said, “I can’t speak to that.”
