Trust me, I’m as tired of these “Do the Right Thing” headlines as anyone. But it’s Friday, the weather is perfect, and my mind keeps drifting towards a weekend that’s about to be spent building planters and spreading weed and feed.
Where was I?
Oh, yes.
Jon Stewart’s performance below is utter perfection, in both a comedic and moral sense. I almost like him now.
Almost.
In the end, not only did Spike Lee seemingly do everything Stewart suggested he should to make up for his abysmal behavior, but Stewart gets it exactly right that re-tweeting anyone’s address — including George Zimmerman’s — to “the lynch mob,” is always wrong.
That’s a moral distinction we’re not hearing enough of.
After his appalling performance the other day, it’s good to see Stewart trying to put a lid on this pot instead of stirring it.
