Missouri state Senator Jamilah Nasheed faced a gunman demanding her car in the city of St. Louis just after midnight on Saturday, Fox 2 now first reported. Nasheed tweeted that a gun was pointed at her when she exited her car in front of her house.
Nasheed, a supporter of the protests advocating for Mike Brown in the town of Ferguson, was arrested in late October during a demonstration with other protesters.
According to a report released by the St. Louis Police, a man approached Nasheed at her parked car outside her residence. Pointing the gun at Nasheed, he demanded her car keys, but she refused to hand them over, and he left in his car, and drove away.
According to Fox 2, the suspect is “described as a black male, 20-25 years old, 120-130 lbs., 5’2″-5’3,″ with a thin build, medium brown complexion, brown eyes, and black hair. He was clean shaven and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. He was driving a grey, older model 4-door sedan with tinted windows.”
Other prominent protesters in the St. Louis area have been victimized by criminals recently. The car of one protest leader, Elizabeth Vega, was stolen recently as she attended a “F*ck the Police” rally. The house of protester Alexis Templeton was also robbed last week.
Conflict within the Brown family itself arose earlier this month when Brown’s mother, Lesley McSpadden, was identified as an alleged robbery attacker against a relative who was selling memorial t-shirts honoring McSpadden’s son.
