Embattled Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) confidently declared on Thursday that Democrats are “expanding the map” heading into the Nov. 4 midterm elections.
“We’re expanding the map, and the Republicans’ map is constricting,” Wasserman told CNN.
Wasserman Schultz’s confident electoral proclamation took a different tone than comments she made to MSNBC on Wednesday wherein she dodged questions about Democrats’ midterm chances.
“You know, the best thing I could predict is we have an opportunity to pick up seats and beyond that, I wouldn’t make any other predictions,” Wasserman Schultz said on Wed.
In a blistering piece last month titled “Democrats Turn On Debbie Wasserman Schultz,” Politico reporter Edward-Isaac Dovere noted that “Long-simmering doubts about her have reached a peak after two recent public flubs: criticizing the White House’s handling of the border crisis and comparing the Tea Party to wife beaters.”
Whether Wasserman Schultz’s confident election predictions prove correct will soon be known. Voters head to the polls in just 12 days.
