On January 20 Breitbart News reported PTR Industries was leaving Connecticut for the greener and more gun-friendly pastures of South Carolina. On June 18 Breitbart News sat down with PTR Industries vice president of sales and administration John McNamara, so he could update us on where his gun company–which builds roller-lock rifles–stands in relation to South Carolina and firearm production.
McNamara said:
On June 30 we’re going to be holding press conference at the factory for the unveiling of new product. It is a commemorative, limited addition rifle to say thanks to the people of South Carolina for the warm reception we’ve received.
The rifle has SC on it, and outline of the state, the palmetto tree with a crescent moon, and an etching of “Shall Not Be Infringed.” Of course it will have South Carolina stamped in the serial number to show we are in our new home and things are up and running.
Breitbart News asked McNamara if the move to South Carolina was smooth and he said: “I moved to South Carolina on the January 26. The move was so smooth our company only missed 10 days of production in the course of it.”
We asked how the people of South Carolina have reacted to PTR Industries.
McNamara said:
It’s incredible, the lifestyle down here. We are well accepted and embraced in the community. You hear things on TV about the south, that people will bake you a cake and bring it, for example. Well it’s been six months and that’s still happening. The North Myrtle Beach chamber of commerce brought out a full catered lunch to say thank you, one day an individual brought up a pickup truck full of watermelons and told us to have at ’em, and other days it’s been strawberries or other great foods. We very pleased to be in South Carolina.
