A new poll from CNN/ORC International shows more than 60% of the American public thinks the Obama Administration has been dishonest about how it has procured information related to the terror attack on the Benghazi compound and the subsequent massacre. The poll found only 37% of respondents content with the Obama administration’s response to the assault.
The pervasive distrust of the Obama Administration may affect the 2016 presidential candidacy of Hillary Clinton, the Secretary of State at the time of the attack, although the poll showed that slightly less respondents view her negatively than they do the White House, albeit still a majority. Fifty-five percent of respondents had negative reactions to Clinton’s actions in the matter, only 43 % approved.
CNN Polling Director Keating Holland, noting the public’s disapproval of the Obama Administration, said, “That may be one reason why overall dissatisfaction with the White House has gone from 50% in 2012 to 60% now.”
The poll reflects the public’s indecision as to whether the GOP is justified in its continuing efforts to delve into the Benghazi affair; 48% agree with the continued hearings on the matter, while 44% disagree.
