On Breitbart News Sunday on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125, Shaun Kenney, one of the editors of the influential Bearing Drift blog, said Republican Virginia gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli is closing in on Democrat Terry McAuliffe and predicted Cuccinelli could win an election in which he estimated turnout would be about 35%.
He said in some polls, Cuccinelli is only down by around six points, and McAuliffe may be slamming the “panic button” because some polls have Cuccinelli within the margin of error and closing.
Kenney said McAuliffe is in a bit of a free fall and is “awfully darn close” to a nosedive, because Virginians are reacting against the National Security Agency scandals, Obamacare, and government ineptitude. Kenney said Virginians know McAuliffe is “knee deep” in that stuff, and working-class Virginians are saying, “we’ve had enough.”
In a low-turnout election, Kenney said some of McAuliffe’s voters may go to libertarian candidate Robert Sarvis (though he conceded that having two candidates who are championing liberty siphons votes away from Cuccinelli) but mentioned that Sarvis’s impact may be diminished if enough conservatives and voters in the Liberty movement turn out for Cuccinelli. Kenney noted that Ron Paul, who has endorsed Cuccinelli, will come to Richmond for a rally, and this election can be every bit the “nail-biter” everyone expected.
“There is very little enthusiasm for McAuliffe in Virginia,” Kenney said.
Kenney said to look to Fairfax County on election night, saying that if McAuliffe gets 55% of the vote or less there in the early voting, it could be a good night for Cuccinelli.
Kenney emphasized national progressive groups and figures like Michael Bloomberg, who is pushing an anti-gun agenda, have poured in millions into the contest, and he mentioned that the Clintons need McAuliffe in Virginia’s statehouse for Clinton’s potential White House ambitions.
