On the August 11 airing of ABC News’ This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Donald Trump questioned Senator Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) eligibility to run for president.
Trump was in Ames, Iowa for a speech at an evangelical gathering when ABC’s Jonathan Karl interviewed him.
During the interview Trump said Cruz’s eligibility for the presidency has come into question as news the Cruz was allegedly born in Canada has surfaced.
Trump said Cruz might not meet the requirements for the office if, in fact, he was born in Canada. Then Trump added: “I don’t know the circumstances…somebody told me he was born in Canada. That’s really his thing.”
The real estate mogul also took time to defend his pursuit of Obama’s birth certificate, and made it clear he questions whether we have seen a real birth certificate yet.
Trump is considering a run for the presidency in 2016.
