Rand Paul Backs McConnell Over Tea Party Challenger

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has endorsed Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) over Tea Party challengers currently being sought out by Kentucky Republican Liberty Caucus chairman David Adams.

Paul’s support of McConnell was first evident in a recent video where the two Senators appeared together with the slogan, “Stand Up To Obama: Join Mitch and Rand.” 

McConnell’s 2014 Campaign Manager Jesse Benton says, “There’s no support at all for a Tea Party challenge.” 

Adams said he remains hopeful a Tea Party challenger to the Senate Minority Leader will still emerge: “There are behind-closed-door meetings happening all over the state. Right now, we’re trying to gauge interest and viability for a generic candidate. We’re working to get down to one alternative to McConnell.”
