Rubio: Clinton, Petraeus Must Testify About Libya

On Tuesday, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) joined other Republican senators in calling for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former CIA Director Gen. David Petraeus to testify before Congress about the terrorists attacks on the U.S. consulate in Libya that murdered U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

After Obama administration officials briefed senators on Libya, Rubio said “there are continued questions about a couple items” and Clinton and Petraeus should testify. He went on to say Clinton has an “invaluable” role to play and “we need to hear from David Petraeus, as well.”

Rubio was troubled by why the White House continued to state the attacks stemmed from a “a spontaneous protest stemming from a YouTube video, as opposed to an organized and orchestrated terrorist attack.” the Senator was “concerned” that U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice went on the Sunday talk shows and “said this was the result of a spontaneous uprising.”

“Obviously, she based those comments on directives or information she received from someone, and it’s important to know who that directive came from and what that information was,” Rubio said.
